Jet Set Lara GQ article by Victoria Gill
The British GQ interview is on the January 2006 issue (the one with Naomi Watts) Here are some excerpts:
"GQ obtains a very private insight into the life of an international courtesan"
She's spent the past week in Mykonos indulging a buxom blonde: "I don't use the term bisexual; it's outmoded. I'm into individuals, that's all." We are preparing for dinner at the Supperclub, famous for its bed-style seating - surely the optimal way to conduct an interview with a courtesan is on her back.
Lara's willowy and kooky. She wears no make-up and dresses like a typical Upper-East-girl-cum-moneyed European.
"Some men seduce by manipulation, while others are more organic, it just flows", she explains as we drift into a blur of champagne.
She draws a combination of the curious and the seasoned playboys. All are experimentalists drawn to a high-concept offer provided by only a handful of girls across the world. "They'll always come a point in the evening when they try to impress me. One guy was, like: 'My friend Jay Leno, my buddy Colin Powell,' but it was completely out of context. Effortlessness is the most attractive demeanor in a man."
"I love intimacy. You've probably noticed, right?" I feel no need to reinforce the comment: she's been asking throughout the evening whether I'll share a bath when we get back.
