Lara's interview in The Independent on Sunday
I recently gave an interview to one of the major British newspapers, The Independent on Sunday. The article focused on the relationship and personal aspects of being a companion. It was based on a phone conversation I had with the journalist and was unedited. I hope it will help dispel some myths about the high-end escort lifestyle.
Jet Set Lara, exploring the Science of Pleasure ;)

Dear Lara,
I read your blog every so often because I identify very strongly with your unspoiled moral landscape. If we were to lay it all out like a topographical map, your inner life would be free-ranging and full of breathtaking peaks and valleys, mysterious features, but few (if any) artificial borders and barriers. Your current profession affords you the luxury of picking and choosing what works for your mental/psychic health at any given turn. Most compelling to me is your yearning for the dying art of 'courtship' (the word most genuinely related to your pursuit).... which is essentially a code of conduct based on respect for boundaries. I recently ended a relationship because it was with yet another partner who didn't know the steps to the dance. And every day I rally myself to believe that there must be a few out there who still remember the meaning of the word 'consideration.'
I understand your fire, and the romance in your soul. I think that when this is all said and done, (as your book deal + movie rights will have earned you your just reward), You will achieve an uncompromised happiness.
As Carrie Bradshaw once said, "Some of us won't settle for less than butterflies."
All the best,
Antonio

I've been reading on and off for awhile now. I thought The Independent did a reasonably fine job there. I hope you can keep everything going until you can leave on your own terms. Cheers & Good Luck, 'VJ'

"It's kind of like a bell curve. Most of the market is in the middle - straightforward sex for money."
Lara, what's at the other end of the bell curve?

For the record, I never gave an interview to Marie Claire. Looks like the interview was syndicated from the UK Sunday Times and is about a year old.

I read about you in Marie Claire - interesting stuff. Who would have guessed that courtesans still existed? (Aside from on the cover of romance novels, that is.)

I happened upon your blog, at the suggestion of Marie Claire (after having read the article of course). I find it fascinating (and am quite impressed actually) that you've gone through painstaking trouble to be in top intellectual form. You don't focus on simply being someone's eye-candy.
You're well read, cultured, and this seems very important to you. Not comparing you to Casanova, but even he thought it was important to have an intellectual connection with his conquests, before he engaged them in relations.
For some reason I thought of this, upon reading the stats outlined in the article.
Anyway, great blog, compelling personality, and interesting write up. ;o)
